Sacramento's in street leaf pick up Season starts Nov 1st

The first big rain storm of the season is set to hit Sacramento starting tomorrow.  That means the leafs are starting to fall and it also means in street pick up will begin. below is information for the City of Sacramento's website:

LEAF SEASON

City of Sacramento residential customers can legally place yard waste piles in the street for collection during the City’s designated leaf season of November, December and January.

First Day Out:  November 1, 2014

Last Day Out:  January 31, 2015

Weekly residential yard waste container collection will continue year-round on a customer's usual collection day. Leaf pile pickup typically occurs approximately every two weeks and will usually not occur on your regular collection day.

CLAW SCHEDULE:

From October 27, 2014 to January 31, 2015, call 311 or visit this site to get an estimate of when the next pile collection will occur for your neighborhood.

LEAF PILE GUIDELINES

• Piles should be no more than two cubic yards in size (3'x3'x6' pile).
• Place the pile six feet from any obstruction (cars, boats, basketball hoops etc.)
• Make sure there is space between the curb and pile to allow water to flow to storm drains. Do not place piles in bike lanes.
• Do not put pet waste in any yard waste pile or container. Pet waste goes into the garbage container.
• Piles should not be in plastic bags.
• Christmas Trees will be accepted in piles

Fall is a great time to plant FREE shade trees from SMUD

  

SMUD has partnered with the Sacramento Tree Foundation to provide FREE shade trees to plant around your home.  The trees can beautify your landscaping and also provide some energy savings by providing shade during the hot winter months.

For more information, you can visit smud.org/shadetrees.  They also have an online tree replacement tool for deciding where to put a tree and which tree is best.

Sacramento's City Household Junk Pickups can also be used for yard waste

Sacramento's City Household Junk Pickup is free for city residents twice per year.  The program runs from February 1st through the end of October each year.  Along with Junk and Debris the pickup program can also be used for yard waste as well.  If you think you will be doing a lot of pruning before November, then call now to make an appointment before the program goes on hiatus. ó In September 2014, the median price increased from $270,000 to $275,000.  The median is 7.8% higher than one year ago.

ó The available housing inventory has been slowly increasing each month and is up to 2.5 months.  I expect to see that number slowly   increase more as we continue through the fall/winter.  A “normal” or “balanced market” is around 4 months.

ó The homes that are priced right, show well and have a high quality marketing plan are still getting sold fairly quick.  However, the properties that are over priced are sitting with little activity until the list price is in line with the true market value.  The overpriced properties are having price reductions to try and get more attention.  The current market is the most “normal/balanced” market we have seen in the Sacramento area in over 10 years.

ó High Demand and Low Supply/Inventory had driven the market prices up in 2013.  The market is finally at a balance and seller’s power of the past 2 years is now equal with the buyers due to the increased inventory of homes for sale.
