Celebrity Houses: Two LA Dodgers buy new homes before starting Spring Training

As many of you know i'm a huge baseball fan and i also grew up in Southern California.  That makes me a huge Dodgers fan!  Since most of my clients in Sacramento are Giants fans it makes for some fun, friendly banter.  

Since spring training has just started I thought i'd put together a fun Dodger Baseball/Real Estate related posted.  This winter, two of the Dodgers biggest stars bought new homes. Clayton Kershaw and Yasiel Puig.  take a look:


Clayton Kershaw had a very busy winter: collecting the Cy Young and MVP awards, his wife Ellen gave birth to their first child and they closed escrow on this beautiful home for $4 million in Studio City of the L.A. valley.






Yasiel Puig settled on a $1.8 million property just up the road in Sherman Oaks.  For such a flashy player on the field this is an interesting decision that comes as a surprise to many as being a very modest, conservative decision.  Take a look:




I'll keep my eyes out for any Giants players to buy any new homes this year as well and do a post on those just to be fair.  Have a great Spring Training and Play Ball!!!

ó In January 2015, the median price decreased from $268,000 to $258,000.  The median is 6.6% higher than one year ago.

ó The available housing inventory has been slowly increasing & is up to 2.6 months. I expect that number to increase as we continue through the winter/spring. A “normal” or “balanced market” has been redefined over the past decade & is now considered about 3 months.

ó The homes that are priced right, show well and have a high quality marketing plan are still getting sold fairly quick.  However, the properties that are over priced are sitting with little activity until the list price is in line with the true market value.  The overpriced properties are having price reductions to try and get more attention.  The current market is the most “normal/balanced” market we have seen in the Sacramento area in over 10 years.

ó High Demand and Low Supply/Inventory had driven the market prices up in 2013.  The market is finally at a balance and seller’s power of the past 2 years is now equal with the buyers due to the increased inventory of homes for sale.
